AW-RDN0827-5 — 0.7-2.7 GHz, rubber duck / terminal antenna

Flexible whip terminal antennas for handhelds, CPE and IoT gateways. This page covers how the class behaves specifically in lora / lorawan antennas work, and lists the 8 catalog models that fit.

What this class does well

A flexible whip survives handling that would snap a rigid element, terminates directly on the radio, and costs almost nothing. For handhelds, gateways and bench work that combination is unbeatable.

Where it falls down

Low gain, and the pattern is heavily influenced by whatever it is attached to — including the hand holding the radio, which can cost several dB.

The range we stock

Across the 8 models in this class the gain runs from 3 to 9 dBi, frequency coverage from 428 to 5850 MHz, and the longest dimension from 80 mm to 390 mm. Check the size figure early. It decides the mount, and on a shared mast it decides whether the part fits at all.

Specifying one for lora / lorawan antennas

Gateway antennas are mounted as high as practical on a mast or rooftop with an unobstructed horizon; node antennas are often compact whip or magnetic-base types. Confirm the connector before ordering: changing the interface later means either an adapter, which adds a mismatch and a failure point, or a re-terminated cable. Standard builds ship with an SMA-Male interface.
