What this class does well

Two or four spatially separated ports let the radio run parallel spatial streams, which raises throughput without additional spectrum. In a reflective environment the multipath that would otherwise hurt the link is what makes the gain possible.

Where it falls down

The throughput gain depends on the environment supplying enough multipath and enough isolation between ports. On a clean line-of-sight link the second stream may add nothing while still costing a second feedline.

Specifying one for 5g antennas

Sector panels are pole- or tower-mounted with mechanical and electrical downtilt; fixed-wireless CPE uses directional wall- or pole-mounted panels aimed at the serving cell. Confirm the connector before ordering: changing the interface later means either an adapter, which adds a mismatch and a failure point, or a re-terminated cable. Standard builds ship with an N-Female interface.
